Simplify Media respects your privacy. Evidence of this is found in the design of our software, which encrypts all of your friend-to-friend data exchange, and in this privacy policy, which communicates what data is collected and how it is safeguarded. Simplify Media is also committed to developing and releasing new features to expand the capabilities of our existing applications. As a result, the information in our privacy policy may change, and we encourage you to check back frequently for updates. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at info@simplifymedia.com.
Simplify Media has two distinct components: a website and a downloaded software application. Our primary purpose in collecting information across both components is to provide you with a safe, smooth and efficient experience.
The Simplify Media website (www.simplifymedia.com) uses Google Analytics to measure site performance. Google Analytics employs “Cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. For more information on the privacy practices for Google Analytics please refer to the Google privacy policy.
The Simplify Media application requires you to create an account. A screen name and a password are mandatory; however, email address and real name are optional. Additionally, the Simplify Media application lets you connect with friends and family by adding their screen names to your Media List. To enhance access from multiple computers, Simplify Media stores the screen names on your Media List as part of your account. Email address, real name and the contents of your Media List are treated as confidential and will not be shared with third parties without your consent unless required by law.
Simplify Media enables a limited number of friend-to-friend, computer-to-computer connections for the purpose of digital media access. You decide which users to interact with by sending and accepting invitations to your Media List, and users can be removed at any time from your Media List.
When you send an invitation, a user receives your screen name and your name (if you have added this information to your account). When invitations are accepted, encrypted connections are established between users and lists of designated files (and meta such as file tags or equivalent) are exchanged. You can change the list of files that can be streamed by the friends on your Media List at any time.
Simplify Media may obtain connection-specific information such as IP address and port and transmit this to computers on your Media List. This temporal information is not stored by Simplify Media.
To facilitate music discovery, Simplify Media works with partner stores to provide links to music you may want to purchase. When you play a song from a user on your Media List, artist and album title information for that song are transmitted in the form of a search query to a partner store (currently Amazon.com) in order to present links to relevant albums. Purchase links only appear when playing music from users on your Media List. For more information on Amazon.com’s privacy practices, please refer to the Amazon privacy notice.
